LEAD FARM / BUSINESS RESOURCES

Formulation types & enquiry guide

A formulation code describes the form of a crop protection product. It does not by itself establish authorised uses, application rates, performance or suitability. Use this guide to read the Lead farm catalogue and prepare a business enquiry.

What do the formulation codes mean?

Lead farm lists the active ingredient, concentration and formulation separately. Technical material listings show purity and development options. Common terms are explained below.

SL Soluble concentrate
A liquid formulation intended to form a solution when diluted as directed by its authorised label.
EC Emulsifiable concentrate
A liquid formulation intended to form an emulsion when diluted as directed by its authorised label.
SC Suspension concentrate
A liquid formulation containing suspended solid particles of active ingredient.
WG / WDG Water-dispersible granules
Granules that disperse in water. WG is the international formulation code; WDG is also used in this catalogue.
DF Dry flowable
A term used for water-dispersible granular formulations. The catalogue preserves DF where it is part of the product description.
WSG / SG Water-soluble granules
Granules that dissolve in water. WSG is used in the company capability description; SG is the international formulation code.
G / GR Granules
G is retained in the catalogue product name; GR is the international code for granules.
TC Technical material
Technical active ingredient material, rather than a finished formulated product. The technical catalogue reports purity and development options.

The glossary follows the international coding references from CIPAC and FAO , with catalogue terms DF and WSG cross-referenced to University of Florida IFAS formulation guidance . Catalogue names retain their supplied abbreviations.

How should I compare catalogue entries?

Compare the active ingredient and its stated form, the concentration and its units, and the formulation code together. For example, Leadfarm Amino Synergy Propyzamide 800 WG Herbicide lists Propyzamide at 800 g/kg in WG form with a displayed 20 kg pack option. The Prothioconazole Technical entry instead lists 98% technical purity and formulation development options.

A value expressed in g/L describes mass per volume; g/kg describes mass per mass. These units are not interchangeable. A technical purity percentage and a finished formulation concentration describe different specifications. Confirm the precise specification for your project with the team.

What should a supply or development brief include?

  1. Product identity. Name the active ingredient and catalogue entry, or describe the material you want to develop.
  2. Target specification. Give the concentration with units, formulation or material type, and any specification requirements.
  3. Project scope. Explain whether you need a supply discussion, custom formulation, technical development or a distribution partnership.
  4. Commercial requirements. Include the intended market, proposed packaging, indicative quantity and timing. Pack sizes and availability are confirmed individually.
  5. Development requirements. Describe the samples, evaluations and technical information you want to discuss. Agree scope and responsibilities with the team.

You can add entries from the herbicide, insecticide, fungicide or technical catalogue to your enquiry list, then prepare an email with your project details.

What does a catalogue entry confirm?

It identifies the listed material and its stated specification for an enquiry. It does not confirm stock, a delivery date, authorised crop uses or application rates. Packaging images are illustrative concepts. Discuss current registration, availability and final packaging before proceeding.

For Australian registration information, use the APVMA registration guidance . Lead farm can discuss manufacturing inputs and available technical information alongside your nominated regulatory adviser.
